Last week I said that I would be writing a list of goals and targets on my blog. This didn’t happen. I found making a list of goals easy as I have quite a clear idea of what I want, and these things mostly relate to making our house a beautiful, relaxing and most of all, safe, place to be. The hard part for me was putting a figure on how much things are going to cost, when in some cases I have no idea. I found myself estimating and when I totalled everything up it made depressing reading. I will still have to do it at some point, but thinking about it was making me so miserable, I’ve decided to leave it for a while and do it when I’m not so ill and feeling more positive.
Talking of positive, I have done some positive things this week to save money. The first was to join our local library. When we moved house we fell into a different local authority and I never got round to joining the library here, but I feel it’s a good thing to do, especially for when the little one arrives as I am obsessed with children’s books and of course it’s free. I also learned that they do lots of free baby classes, so that’s really handy to know.
The other thing I have done is to use a few coupons. I was heavily into couponing when I started this blog and have lost my way a bit, I think, but I joined the Boots parenting club and used a coupon to buy their own brand stretch mark oil. I’ve lost the receipt but I think I got £1.50 off the RRP making it less than £4. I tend to think if you’re going to get stretch marks you will no matter what, but I’m enjoying using the oil anyway – the skin on my stomach doesn’t feel so tight when it’s applied, so even if it fails to keep stretch marks at bay, I still like the product. The other thing I did was to use the coupon they sent me to get a free changing bag when buying a pack of nappies(see pic). Mr Lemonade hates the bag and says it looks cheap. Personally I don’t mind it, I’m just worried it seems quite small. I guess time will tell as to whether we use it or not. If anyone has the bag, I’d love to know how you have found it to be and if it’s big enough to fit all your bits and bobs.
I’ve been quite ill this week. I think I got a bit cocky thinking the hyperemesis had passed, as I’m being sick quite a lot again. I have also had a really bad cold and thought for a while I might be getting flu. Thankfully it didn’t get to that stage and I had my flu jab yesterday, so fingers crossed I will be feeling better from now on.
Other than that, there’s not a lot to report from me this week. I have a list of things I want to blog about and had been hoping I would have gotten most of these written and posted this week, but unfortunately not – hopefully some time soon!
I don’t have too many plans for this week coming. I still want to get that list of goals sorted, but whether I’ll find the strength to do it this week or not, I’m not sure. I would also like to get a quote for skimming the walls in the nursery done this week too. It is supposed to be something Mr Lemonade is doing and sometimes I really have to push him to actually get round to doing these things. Here’s to a less sickly and less stressful week to come!
